Finally! After popular demand we are proud to present a new edition of our Lazy Queer Sunday, which – for the first time – will fully be hosted in English. We are happy that we can finally bring our concept of the Lazy Queer Sundays to our lovely national and international visitors alike. Our team cannot wait to welcome you all to an afternoon full of good conversations, tea/coffee, cookies and literature!

But that is not the only good news: author Alvina Chamberland is visiting Europe for the book tour of her debut novel Love the World or Get Killed Trying. The Lazy Queer Sunday in Savannah Bay will be one of the stops of her tour.

Love the World or Get Killed Trying dives into the mind of Alvina, a trans woman on the eve of turning thirty. The reader is invited to follow her journey through the breathtaking wilderness of Iceland and busy city boulevards of Berlin and Paris as she probes questions of eternity, sexuality, longing, death, love, and how hard it is to remain soft when you’re a continuous target of straight men’s secret lust and open disgust.

This novel tackles universal issues through a trans woman’s specific lens, insisting that these experiences speak to far more than just issues of sexuality and gender.  Love the World or Get Killed Trying is a raw and vulnerable work of autofiction. Concretely, the novel asserts that if trans women one day collectively outed every man who seeks them out, a full-blown revolution would ensue by nightfall.

“Honesty in perfect balance with generosity. Reading this book is like receiving an ongoing gift.” – Torrey Peters, author of Detransition, Baby

On the afternoon of May 12th Alvina will visit our bookshop to tell us more about her book. Our lovely volunteer and host Grey Ravelli will interview Alvina, and she will answer any of the questions you may have about her book. Of course she would love to sign your copy of Love the World or Get Killed Trying.
